SRINAGAR- THE CAPITAL OF KASHMIR
Kashmir is an Indian state which is situated in the north of India. It is also known as the paradise on Earth owing to its scintillating and breathtaking natural beauty. It is surrounded with magnificent mountains, lush meadows, beautiful landscapes, clear rivers and infinite beauty. This state is a real embodiment of heaven. Besides the natural beauty it has some of the richest heritage, delicious cuisine and unique fashion. Shrinagar is the capital of Kashmir and certainly an astonishing destination to visit. It is the city of gardens and houseboats. The city has plethora of gardens which are filled with exquisite flowers and some of them have splendid view of the mountains. Shrinagar have four Mughal gardens which are considered to be the most beautiful of all, they are; Pari Mahal, Nishant Bagh, Shalimar Bagh and Chashma Shahi.
• PARI MAHAL- Pari Mahal was built by the Mughal Prince Dara Shikoh. It is a huge and enchanting garden which is made in a fort. The view from there is breath-taking.
• CHASHMA SHAHI- It is garden which is built around a natural stream of water which is believed to have medicinal qualities. There are various species of trees and flowers present there with the chill stream of water flowing in the middle.
• NISHANT BAGH- It is another one of the beautiful Mughal Gardens in Shrinagar. Nishant Bagh is a treat to the eyes as it is surrounded with splendid natural beauty. You can relax and have a gala time with your family here.
• SHALIMAR BAGH- Last but not the least the Shalimar Bagh is a magnificent garden with around 50 species of flowers. It also has one of the oldest chinar trees planted in it which is approximately 450 years old. This garden has two parts which are diwan-e-khas and diwan-e aam. These two structures are preserved by the archaeological survey of India and is a treat to the history enthusiasts. The scenic beauty is something you would love to witness.
Besides, the Mughal garden another site to visit in Shrinagar is the famous Dal Lake. The city of Shrinagar is situated around the Dal Lake. You can traverse through the lake in a Shikara which is a beautiful boat specific to Kashmir and have a tranquil time in the water. Dal Lake also has a floating market known as the Meena Bazaar where you can shop for some authentic Kahmiri handicrafts and clothes.
Shrinagar also has a temple which is dedicated to the deity Shiva and it is called Shankaracharya Temple. It is situated at height so you have to climb 250-300 stairs to witness a splendid view of the whole city of Shrinagar. It would leave you spell bounded!
Furthermore, if you are in Shrinagar you have to try the traditional Kashmiri Wazwaan. It is an authentic Kashmiri Cuisine which has 7 main dishes. It is a delectable dish and yiu will be left licking your fingers. The best place to eat this is in the downtown Shrinagar. Last but not the least, Shrinagar’s Lal Chowk and some old shops such as Alisha has soe of the best Kashmiri textile work such as pashmina and Kashmiri handicrafts. They are a must visit place if you want to buy some souvenirs for your loved ones or experience the Kashmiri culture from within!
